WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the second time this week, Susan Collins clobbered Troy Jackson on his failed record that caused Maine’s electric bills to skyrocket and for his various sweetheart deals benefitting his family. With Politifact calling Jackson’s claims on Collins “misleading.”

What they are saying:

The Washington Times: “Mr. Jackson didn’t directly rebut the accusations against his son.”

Shermichael Singleton, CNN Contributor: “Senator Collins stands as the clear leader in this debate. When Troy Jackson was asked about affordability, he rambled. Senator Collins challenged him for shifting positions on issues his son lobbied him on—and he had no clear response. While Collins secured billions for Maine to support infrastructure, jobs, and education, Troy Jackson enriched himself. Mainers seek a Senator who will serve them like Senator Collins rather than profit personally like Troy Jackson.”

Steve Guest, Commentator: “Senator Susan Collins hosting ANOTHER master class tonight: She reminds everyone that Troy Jackson voted against a bill that would have reduced electric costs for the average household by $275 per year.”

Erin Maguire, Fox News: “Never underestimate Susan Collins. She has shown time again, and Mainers know it, that she is an independent actor…”

Matt Whitlock, Commentator: “This is a death-blow. And one reason Troy Jackson came in third in the Democrat primary for governor just months before Democrats swapped him in for rapist Graham Platner. Troy Jackson’s corruption is well known across the state.”

Townhall: “Susan Collins is ripping Troy Jackson to shreds tonight.”

Peter J. Hasson, Commentator: “Troy Jackson lied tonight about his role leading a PAC and his connections to special interests groups. Insanely stupid of him considering the Washington Post already fact checked him on it last month”

Steve Robinson, The Maine Wire: “Troy Jackson has twice been accused, once by a moderator and again by Susan Collins, of allowing payments to Resurgam Group, his son Chace Jackson’s lobbying firm, to steer his legislative decisions. Pure pay-to-play. He has yet to deny it.”

Curtis Houck, Managing Editor of NewsBusters: “Troy Jackson was not only a toxic person in the Maine legislature to the point some women didn’t want to be alone with him, he was really BAD at his job on policy. Health care costs being 77% higher in Maine than New Hampshire doesn’t just happen”
