The Washington Post reports that Chuck Schumer’s PAC, Senate Majority PAC, has reserved $23 million in airtime in Arizona to bail out Ruben Gallego as he faces a tough race in one of the country’s top battleground states.
Gallego is facing serious image issues in his effort to win the Arizona Senate seat, with reports revealing that he was involved with a company that settled for millions in a Medicare fraud investigation and that herented out his Arizona home while charging taxpayers for his primary residence in D.C. He is also under scrutiny for refusing to unseal his divorce records and explain why he abandoned his wife when she was nearly nine months pregnant.
NRSC Statement: “Radical Ruben Gallego is in hot water in Arizona. While Chuck Schumer and his allies can throw millions at Gallego’s far-left campaign, they won’t be able to hide his history of shady business deals and abandoning his wife when she was nearly nine months pregnant.” – NRSC Spokesman Tate Mitchell
