Washington, D.C. – Last night, Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat Terry McAuliffe to become the 74th Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This morning, the political pundit class had to do some serious recalibration of the state of the American electorate and the Senate map. The UVA Center for Politics’ Crystal Ball shifted four major battleground states towards Republicans.

As Crystal Ball put it, the Youngkin’s win in Virginia “sets off alarm bells for Democrats.”
ICYMI, Chairman Rick Scott put out a statement last night congratulating Glenn Youngkin and highlighting the opportunity Republicans have to win back the Senate in 2022.
Statement from NRSC Chairman Rick Scott: “Congratulations Governor-elect Youngkin. It’s a great night for Virginia and a great night for the rest of the country. Our polling and data, particularly with suburban voters, show us the nation is rejecting the Biden agenda and Democrat candidates, and that’s what voters in Virginia did tonight. In November of 2022, I look forward to celebrating an even bigger win when we take back control of the U.S. Senate.”
