While St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, people are looking forward to celebrating and wearing green for good luck!

But there’s a certain Senate Democrat whose true-blue voting record has him down on his luck with voters in deep red West Virginia. It’s none other than Washington Joe Manchin!

And, as if his votes against West Virginia were not enough, Joe Manchin’s cursed campaign is also bogged down by unanswered questions, ethics scandals, and blatant hypocrisy.

Here are Joe’s (not-so-lucky number) 7 reasons he is down on his luck this St. Patrick’s Day.

#1 His Terrible Voting Record: aka #JoeVotedNo

West Virginia voted for President Trump and VP Pence by a whopping 42-point margin, but you would never know that looking at Joe Manchin’s terrible voting record. On everything from tax cuts for hardworking families, to defunding Planned Parenthood, and repealing Obamacare, Joe Vote No.

Vice President Mike Pence put it best in his recent visit to West Virginia when he called out Manchin for voting against West Virginia values and failing to support the President’s agenda:

#2 His Feud with Trump and Pence

Instead of working to faithfully represent what West Virginia voters want, Joe Manchin made matters worse by lashing out at the Trump administration, personally insulting Vice President Pence, and declaring that “Washington sucks.”

This came after the President himself called out Manchin for his all talk, no action, political posturing.

#3 His Deep Ties to Big Pharma

When it comes to Joe Manchin and Big Pharma, the two are thick as thieves. His daughter is CEO of Mylan, which has peddled harmful opioid drugs like Fentanyl and raised the prices of life-saving EpiPens by 500%.

Not to be left out, Manchin’s wife spearheaded an effort to require schools across the country to purchase EpiPens.

All the while, Joe Manchin has raked in campaign cash from Mylan, his second largest campaign contributor.

Oh, and don’t forget that his campaign’s senior adviser, Larry Puccio, is a lobbyist for Mylan and Manchin’s hotel investing partner.

#4 His Shady Hotel Dealings

For months, Manchin’s reelection effort has been mired in scandal as he’s tried to hide his wealth and dubious investments.

It all began when Manchin and his investment partner/Mylan lobbyist/campaign adviser were named in a bankruptcy lawsuit for Mountain Blue Hotel Group.

The company has been sued for defaulting on loans and has been raided to collect unpaid taxes. Manchin has tap-danced around the scandal by continuously changing stories, and at times, outright lying.

Now Manchin is the subject of a Senate Ethics investigation for his failure to disclose his investment in the hotels. Good luck explaining that to voters!

#5 His Hypocritical Campaign Pledge

Manchin’s transparent desperation reached new levels when he started a campaign to get Senators to pledge not to campaign against each other. How convenient that this foolish pledge campaign began while he’s running for reelection.

Flashback to 2008 when Manchin served as Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, which campaigns against Republican governors, and 2014 when he donated to failed Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes.

Sen. Manchin has a history of campaigning against Republicans, but when his name is on the ballot, his story seems to change.

#6 His Washington Ways

Senator Joe Manchin likes to paint himself as a moderate man of the people, but Washington Joe isn’t fooling anyone.

Manchin is one of the wealthiest members of Congress, worth over 3 million dollars.

He’s a member of the Democratic leadership in the Senate, also known as the geniuses behind the Schumer shutdown.

He turns to Big Pharma and Hollywood for campaign cash.

And, most importantly, he votes with Washington liberals when West Virginia is counting on him the most to stand up to them (see reason #1 on this list).

#7  His Duck and Dodge Routine

Maybe Manchin would have better luck if he took accountability for his errors. Instead, he’s relied on a strategy of playing dumb when serious questions arise about the many controversies surrounding his campaign.

While Joe attempts to launch his long shot re-election bid, it’s obvious he’s down on his luck – and it just keeps getting worse. Perhaps it’s time Manchin realized he’s making his own bad luck.
